Codes of Practice and Legislation
The Rain Harvesting Company adheres to best practice guidelines as set out in BS 8515: Code of Practice for the Installation of Rainwater Harvesting Systems (2009). In addition, we comply with all current legislation as set out in the following:
- Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 (England and Wales)
- The Building Regulations for England and Wales
- The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- The 2002 Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations.
Before any system is installed it must be inspected and approved by the local water supplier, sewage undertaker and the local building control officer. Furthermore, external built structures to house storage vessels may require local government planning permission.
